Can my auto lender charge me to make a payment by phone or through the internet?!

Auto lenders love to charge what they call “convenience fees” when you make any payment over the phone or through the internet. These fees may be illegal under Maryland law, and if you have been charged a convenience fee, you may be entitled to monetary compensation. In the past, Z Law has filed lawsuits against Westlake Financial Services, Credit Acceptance Corporation, Santander Consumer USA, Capital One Auto Finance, and C&F Finance for charging Maryland consumers convenience fees, and we are currently looking into several other companies who may have similarly charged convenience fees to other Maryland consumers.
